The annual members’ business meeting was held on Wednesday evening, December 4th, at the Gold Coast Eagle Distributing facility at Lakewood Ranch. During the business meeting members unanimously approved a change to the council bylaws and elected the 2014 board of directors and council officers. The board and officers were then sworn in by RADM. Donald P. Harvey, USN(RET).
Following the business meeting, members socialized for much of the evening in the Tasting Rotunda , enjoying an array beverages, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Nearly 70 were in attendance, including several special guests: John Power, the current VP, and Peter Langley, past president ,of the U.S. Navy League Council from Levante, Spain; over 20 active duty Coast Guard members -and several of their spouses- from our sponsored units, the USCG Station Cortez, and the USCG Cutter Crocodile; Colonel John W. Saputo, USMCR, proprietor of Gold Coast Eagle Distributing; and Hugh Shields, Gold Coast Eagle’s Marketing Manager.
A fine time was had by all, and we owe a special “Thanks” to Col. Saputo, who provided his facility to our council at no cost, and to Mr. Shields, who served as our “go-to-guy” and bartender! Thank you, Gentlemen!
